Exploring the Untold Tales of Translation
Ribosome profiling, also known as ribo-seq, is a powerful experimental technique that provides insights into the translation dynamics and protein synthesis occurring within a cell.
A significant portion of our understanding of gene regulation is derived from research on mRNA levels, even though protein abundance has a greater influence and post-transcriptional regulation is widespread.
Comprehending the molecular fundamentals of regulatory divergence within and between species may be highly advantageous. Most of the recognized human ailment-risk alleles are present in non-coding parts of the genome, implying that they have an influence on gene regulation.
By combining ribosome profiling with mRNA sequencing data, researchers can gain a more comprehensive understanding of gene expression regulation, identify translationally regulated genes, discover novel translation events, and explore the dynamics of protein synthesis within cells.
Until recently, the difficulty of accurately measuring protein abundance inhibited the thorough examination of gene regulation. But, this new technique of ribosome profiling has enabled us to analyze variations in the control of translation.
